Frequently Asked Questions
Jungle Suite Upper - Jungle Side FAQs
What does the Jungle Suite Upper – Jungle Side look out on?
This suite faces the garden and jungle greenery on the jungle side of La Valise Tulum, so expect foliage and the sounds of the jungle rather than an open sea view. The hotel has 22 suites in total, eleven beachside and eleven on the jungle side. This one suits guests who prefer a leafy, private setting to a view of the water.
How is the bed set up, and who is the room right for?
The suite has 1 king bed in a single bedroom and sleeps 2 guests. That makes it a natural fit for couples. La Valise Tulum accepts guests aged 12 and older and works as an intimate, adult-feeling retreat, so it is not set up for families with young children.
How big is the suite and what is the bedding like?
The suite measures 538 sq. ft. with one bedroom. The king bed has a pillowtop mattress, Egyptian cotton sheets, a down comforter and hypo-allergenic premium bedding. Air conditioning and a ceiling fan keep the room comfortable, and turndown service is part of the stay.
What is the bathroom like?
The suite has a private bathroom with a rainfall showerhead. It comes with bathrobes, towels, designer toiletries, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and a hair dryer.
Where do guests swim if they stay on the jungle side?
Each suite area, beach and jungle side, has access to a large pool, and the property has two pools with poolside bars. There is also a natural cenote on site. The jungle-side pool is a good alternative when sargassum affects the beach, with access on a first-come, first-served basis.
What is included with a stay in this suite?
Guests get daily breakfast (à la carte, made with local ingredients), free Wi-Fi, free bottled water, free local, long-distance and international calls, and 24-hour room service. The hotel also lends complimentary cruiser bikes for exploring the beach road and offers free on-site parking. A mandatory destination fee of USD $40 per night applies and, according to one review, covers concierge, Wi-Fi, wellness services and beach and pool services.
Where can I eat, and how far is dinner from the suite?
La Valise's beachfront restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its menu blends traditional Mexican and Mayan dishes, and it is open from about 8am to 11pm. NÜ Tulum, the hotel's Michelin-recognised dinner restaurant, sits across the road on the jungle side in an open-air space among palms. NÜ is not open every night, so book ahead through the concierge or the hotel's dining page.
Can I book a massage or wellness treatment from the suite?
Yes, in-room massage can be arranged. The on-site La Valise Spa offers massages, facials, yoga and Mayan ceremonies, with natural, sustainable products. The hotel says the spa is open 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily. Guests under 18 are not admitted to the spa. There is no on-site gym, but yoga classes are offered.
What should I know about arrival, check-in and getting here?
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM and check-out is at noon. Late check-out can be arranged on request, subject to availability. The hotel is at Km 8.7 on the Tulum–Boca Paila road, about 90 minutes by car from Cancún airport via Highway 307. The concierge can book private transfers, and the hotel recommends pre-arranging a pick-up if you will not rent a car. A government-issued photo ID and the credit card used for the booking are required at check-in.
